Blue Hill Harbor School Branding & Design

Murphy Empire partnered with Blue Hill Harbor School, a highly regarded and continually waitlisted 9–12 grade charter high school located on the coast of Blue Hill, Maine. We developed their comprehensive brand identity system, including their custom logo, mascot, visual marks, color palette, and full branding suite for web, print, and school community expression. The identity reflects the school’s connection to the rugged Maine coastline, academic curiosity, and strong sense of belonging and pride.

Brand Identity & Creative Direction

Our creative direction centered on clarity, confidence, and a strong sense of place. The visual identity system features a classic palette of deep navy, ocean aqua blue, and white, chosen to reflect the sea, weathered shoreline granite, and clear coastal air. The design is clean, bold, and welcoming — representing both academic rigor and creative exploration.

Logo Design, Mascot & Visual Language

We designed a custom logotype and mark system that includes the school’s mascot, the Mako shark, affectionately known as “Mako.” The primary circular mark references both coastline and mountains in a minimalist and geometric illustration style, offering a nod to the scientific, observational approach to learning at Blue Hill Harbor School.

The resulting visual language is structured, energetic, and distinctly coastal — built to inspire school pride.

Print, Web & Spirit Materials

We extended the identity across print materials, web and mobile branding, signage, apparel, flags, stickers, social graphics, and school communication collateral. Every asset was created to unify student experience, staff identity, and community representation across the school campus, local region, athletic environments, and digital presence.
