Winslow Homer Studio | A Year at the Studio Branding & Design

Murphy Empire partnered with the Winslow Homer Studio and the Portland Museum of Art to create a 50+ slide digital art slideshow ‘A year at the Winslow Homer Studio, Prout’s Neck, Maine’ by Ken Murphy, 2020, capturing seasonal transitions of light, weather, growth and repose at the studio. The project delivered a full visual asset suite for both web and print promotion — bringing the essence of the studio’s terrain, mood and legacy into scalable media.

Brand Identity & Creative Direction

Our approach centred on mood, movement and time. We developed a visual identity system that reflects the studio’s historic maritime setting and painterly light — through colour shifts, typographic consistency and image cadence. Every design decision aimed to bring the spirit of the location and the artist’s process into the animation of the slides and all supporting assets.

Slideshow Design & Visual Language

We designed the slideshow as an immersive visual narrative: each slide transitions through season and atmosphere, rooted in the studio’s essence. The visual language extends beyond motion — into print posters, digital screens, social media frames and signage — so the brand experience remains unified whether still or in motion.

Digital, Print & Promotional Assets

The identity was applied across media: web banners, event posters, printed booklets, museum way-finding signage and social graphics. Each piece translates the slideshow’s visual rhythm into physical and digital formats — ensuring the studio’s story, mood and legacy are communicated consistently and evocatively.
