Knotty Boots Branding & Design

Murphy Empire partnered with Knotty Boots, a Maine-based company crafting stylish, rugged women’s boots built for rough weather and made in the USA. We designed their full brand identity system, including a custom logo and mark set inspired by the brand’s signature monkey’s-fist nautical knot motif, developed the product design with color variants, and created print, web, and social media visuals to support every touchpoint of their retail presence.

Brand Identity & Creative Direction

Our creative direction emphasized heritage, resilience, and fashion-forward functionality. We developed a visual identity system that celebrates the brand’s durability and style—rooted in Maine’s weather-ready aesthetic with a refined design sensibility. From typography and formation to the knot motif and product identity, every element supports a cohesive brand voice across all formats.

Logo Design & Visual Language

The logo and mark system revolve around the monkey’s-fist nautical knot detailing—an iconic accessory on the boot zipper pull and a visual anchor for the brand. Alongside the primary mark, we built supporting logos, color variants, and flexible systems for print, web, and social use. The visual language reinforces the brand’s unique positioning: fashionable yet built for the elements.

Product Design, Print & Web Visual Assets

We extended the brand into product design—planing color-variants for boots, accessory treatments, and branded packaging. Print and web marketing visuals included campaign imagery, social-media content, and retail graphics. Every asset—from boot collar branding to Instagram carousel—was developed to reflect Knotty Boots’ blend of style and function.
